Not sure why the ship stops here, but a nice walk

Gothenburg, Sweden
Today we spent the morning in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is on the west coast of Sweden and is the 2nd largest city in the country. We decided to walk around the city and see what we found.
We started out the morning early — before shops or sites were open — at a rose garden. They had a variety of flowerbed and it is situated along one of the city’s canals.
From there we walked along the canal-side park to the old part of Gothenburg, Haga. This area has old timber buildings and cobblestone streets. Again, we were there before much of anything was open, but it is a quaint area.
Near Haga we walked up a very steep hill to the Skansen Kronen, a fort that was started in the late 1600s. The fort is an octagonal building of stone with a gold crown at the top of the roof. Placed on a high point in the city, it has great views of Gothenburg. Definitely worth the climb.
From there we made it back towards the ship. We managed to beat a rainstorm, which was good luck on our part. We only had a few hours at the port…and we managed to walk 5 miles by 11 am. By lunchtime we were back on the ship and off sailing towards Germany.
