Monterey, CA

We spent today in Monterey. During the morning we walked the coastline from our condo in Pacific Grove to the Coast Guard Pier at San Carlos Beach Park. We managed to see some sea otters (none close up), a ton of harbor seals hanging out at Point Cabrillo, and piles of sea lions at the Coast Guard Pier.

The afternoon belonged to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We made it through the whole place plus had a behind-the-scenes tour of where and how they rehabilitate sea otters. Very fun. Random fact of the day: sea otters’ fur has 1000 hairs per square inch. The aquarium is well worth the visit!
