a relaxing day
Capri, Italy |
Capri, Italy
Not much to say about today. We took a boat ride around the island and went into the Blue Grotto. Nice and relaxing day! Plenty of pretty pictures! Today is our last full day on Capri. Tomorrow we take the ferry to Naples and the high speed train back to Rome.
Some somewhat random thoughts on Capri:
We really enjoy it here. If you’re up to light-moderate trail “hiking” there is plenty to do and see here over 3 or maybe 4 days. If you are more the hang out and shop type it probably isn’t worth that much time. The “beaches” are rocky and small. Our hotel gives out yoga mats to lie on at the beach rather that towels…for good reason. It is worth taking part of a day to go to Anacapri. It has a different feel and that’s where the chairlift to Mount Solaro is. Capri’s public transportation system is very good and only 1.8 euro a trip. They also have day passes. Easy to use. There are taxis, but they cost a lot more. The ferries to and from the mainland are also easy to use, albeit not as inexpensive. Because of the easy access to ferries, Capri is a good “home base” for day trips to Naples, a couple of other islands, and the Amalfi Coast. When you’re in Capri be sure to have a granita or two: it’s a great frozen lemonade. My favorite is a mix of the frozen lemonade with fresh orange juice.
