crossing borders

Ấp Vĩnh Hưng, Vietnam
Not much to write about today as we were on the boat all day. We spent the day relaxing on the sun deck, watching the shoreline go by.
This morning we left Phnom Penh and joined up with the Mekong River (the Tonle Sap River joins the Mekong in Phnom Penh). From the river it was easy to see how much new construction there is in Phnom Penh. Hopefully, this, along with increased tourism and improving education and infrastructure, will help Cambodia develop further. They’re still a (upper) third world country overall. I really liked Cambodia and would consider returning someday.
When we reached the border between Cambodia and Vietnam we anchored in the Mekong. It took about 1 hr 45 min to finish the immigration process (all done by the ship’s crew) before we moved on further down the river into Vietnam. Tonight we are anchored near Tan Chau, where we will visit in the morning.
