We are in Bonaire diving with our daughter, Emily, and her husband, Mark. We let Mark decide where we were going…he’s heard us talk about diving in Bonaire so he chose here. Paul and I are always up for diving in Bonaire! We had a late start because we had to do the orientation and “orientation dive” for the marine park. You have to do that to get an annual pass…and we’ve never come more than once in a year so we do this each time.
Even with the late start we managed to do 4 dives today

Sara’s Smile: This is the private dive site for Buddy Dive at Belmar. It’s where our dive shop is so it is where we do our orientation dive. It’s always a nice place to start. Easy entry down a ladder at their dock.

Tori’s Reef: Always our favorite! It’s the #2 dive site in the Caribbean for diversity. As usual, we were surrounded by fish! Hurricane Matthew (last fall) washed away a large amount of sand on the shore which really changed the entry.

Windsock: This site is at the end of the Flamingo AIrport’s runway, hence the name. It has always been our go-to easy dive: walk in and go! No longer. The hurricane essentially washed away the entire beach, making it a much more difficult entry. Fortunately, as at Tori’s, the reef is fine. I may not be…a wave knocked me over when I was getting out and left me with scrapes. Maybe I should head to the ER.

Night dive at Sara’s Smile: We actually went off of our dock, but it’s basically the same reef/dive site. Mark really wanted to do a night dive. You do see some different fish and behavior at night. Nice dive!

After the night dive, Paul grilled us up some fish and burgers. Yum!
