Safari here works similarly to how it was in South Africa. We get up at 6 am, light breakfast at 6:30, morning safari at 7:00 until 10:30-ish. Lunch around noon. High tea is at 3 pm with afternoon safari at 3:30 until about 6:15 with dinner at 7pm.
Today both our morning and afternoon safaris were driving safaris. Our goal, as always, was big cats. As always, there were many other things to see.

Giraffe

Grey go-away bird (that’s what it’s call sounds like “go away”)

Crowned lapwing: they have a black hat with a white halo

Buffalo

Kori Bustard: this is the largest known flying bird.
elephant

A huge group of baboons walked by us, many with babies being carried on their backs or bellies.

Southern Red-Billed Hornbill

Male kudu

Once again, giraffe look ridiculous drinking.
We did eventually come upon some lions. At this point, a couple of lionesses were resting in the shade.

White backed vultures

This yellow-bellied greenbul came to visit while we stopped for snacks.

We came across the lions again later in the afternoon. This time it was the whole pride. Initially we just found a lioness and lion. The lion managed to get on the lioness’s bad side for a bit. They later met up with the other lionesses and we followed them for a while. They took a break and then walked right up to us.

They came up very close to us.

On our way back to the lodge in the twilight, we saw a honey badger. Only managed to get this picture before it ran off, but this was actually a big find!
