This was a very laid-back, relaxing day. We had the morning to wander around Luxembourg City and after lunch we headed to our ship to start our river cruise.

We window shopped some pastry shops. There are a few in the area and they all look amazing!

We found a cat cafe. Too bad we didn’t run across this yesterday!

That is a real black cat on that gray pillow, not a painting on the glass.

We went into a chocolate shop that had beautiful cakes along with candies.

We went by the Grand Ducal Palace again. It has a very modern looking glass bridge connecting it to the Hall of the Chamber of Deputies, which is their parliament building. Their government is a parliamentary democracy with elections every 5 years. The Grand Duke, as royal head, apparently has a primarily representative role, but has the power to appoint the prime minister and to dissolve the chamber of deputies, amongst other things.

We did eventually need to head to the ship, which was in Wasserbillig, Luxembourg, on the border with Germany and on the Moselle River. We will be sailing on this river and on the Main and Rhine Rivers along with the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal.
Due to COVID, the ship is very sparsely occupied. It looks like there are about 40 people on here. The river cruise ships are small anyways with a capacity of about 150 people, but they are doing low occupancy right now and they also made a late change before the cruise requiring full vaccination, so I think that made some people had to reschedule their trips.

We leave this port in the early morning and will be in Germany when we wake up. That is where we will spend the remainder of our trip.
