Manda Island, Kenya

We left the Maasai Mara to head to Manda Island.

On our drive out, we stopped to check on the 3 week old lion cubs. We were concerned that they might have been swept away by the flooding rains if mom didn’t make it back to them in time.

We didn’t see them directly, but dad was still on watch, which John says means at least some cubs are there back in the brush.

On the way out, we passed by a few of the houses of the Maasai who live within the area. They herd cattle, sheep, and goats.

We flew to Manda Island, which is an island just off the coast of Kenya in the Indian Ocean. The goal is to unwind by the water after many long (but enjoyable) safari days.

We reached the our resort by boat, passing by large areas of mangrove.

We have 2 days here and then we go home. Apologize for all iphone pics, but I decided to not unpack my big cameras here.
