We had a nice relaxed day today. We are at a very small town called Pinhão. Everything around here pretty much revolves around vineyards and wine. There are vineyards covering every available land and we were told that this community combines and sells their harvests to be able to produce over 20 million bottles of wine locally.

They were having a market this morning.

On the left is salted cod. When you want to cook this you have to soak it for a few days until it  is softened and your desired level of saltiness. On the right is ham.

Variety of cheeses.

We were going into town to see the Pinhão train station. The station dates back to the 19th century, but it is known for its tile panels. These date back to 1937 and they decorate much of the outside of the station.

Later in the day we went to a winery for a tasting of Moscatel do Douro wine. Moscatel wine is a sweet fortified wine that is somewhat similar to port.
