This morning we awoke to snow on the decks and more snow falling. For a little while we were in an area of pancake ice completely covering the ocean as well. One of the naturalists who happens to be from Cornwall, England said that she made her very first snowman ever on the bow.

The water in the background was covered in circles of ice.
The snow continued to fall, but the decks were cleared.
We did an outing on the special operations boat and a landing today. Our landing site today was Mickkelsen Harbor at Trinity Island. The island and harbor were used for whaling and there are remnants of the industry with parts of ships and whale bones left around.

There is a notable Gentoo penguin colony on the island as well.

Snowy sheathbill

This is a group of Southern giant petrels. They were bullying a Weddel seal, chasing it down a hill.

It eventually got away and relaxed.

Ice chunks on the shore at low tide.

The wind and snow made it a bit miserable, wet, and cold to be out today, but we still enjoyed seeing all of the scenery and animals.
