Some travel days go well, others don’t go as planned. Today was the latter kind of day.
We were supposed to have a morning flight from São Paulo to Iguazu Falls and have the majority of the day at the falls.
We got on the plane and started to taxi and were told that we had to go back: there was an extra person on the plane and it had to be sorted out. We went back and sat on the tarmac, this had been a bus-loaded plane, with the doors open for over a half an hour while the flight attendants, pilot, and this extra person hash out the situation.

In the meantime everyone else was walking around the plane.
We are told we could leave again, taxi out, only to be told that there is a mechanical issue and we would be delayed another hour.

My view of the tarmac.
After a bit they told us we were deplaining and getting lunch vouchers.

Back on the bus to the terminal.
Our plane ended up departing 5 hours late. They actually switched planes and crew in the end.

View flying out of São Paulo

Views of the Iguazu River as we were flying in. Apologies for the bad lighting.

By the time we made it to Iguazu it was too late for our tour of the falls. We got taken to our hotel and got checked in. There was a little time before dinner, so we walked on a trail.

This trail led to a “view” of the river. It was very high and a limited view. That said, we are close to the river, which is the border with Argentina here. The trail was a nice walk, though.
I did like the warning sign at the beginning of the trail.

Yes, I know it’s in Portuguese. It’s basically saying that there could be jaguars and pumas on the trail and what to do or not do if you see one. We were disappointed by no trail kitties.
