On the Road

We spent today making our way from Prague to Budapest. We decided to hire a driver and see some sights along the way.

Lednice Palace is part of a 109 square mile property that was confiscated from the Liechtenstein family after WWII and given to Czechoslovakia because the family was seen as being German.

There was some filming being done on the property, hence the numerous vehicles. The building was closed, but we had a nice walk around.

Lake on the property

Staghorn sumac. Not native, but pretty color in the winter.

Our next stop was Bratislava, Slovakia.

Old town

Christmas market

A cheese booth. That is braided cheese on the right.

A view of Bratislava Castle.

There are markers around that show the coronation path through the Old Town.

Man at Work sculpture.

Another Christmas market.

Lastly, we made a brief stop in Györ, Hungary

Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of our Lady

Baroque interior

Ladisius I of Hungary ruled in the 11th century. He was canonized after death and this golden herm contains his skull.

Eventually we made it to Budapest and got settled in our hotel. We headed out to the closest Christmas market.
