A full-night’s sleep sure is nice!

Street by our hotel

We started off today at the Great Market Hall, which is the largest and oldest indoor market in Budapest. It was built in 1896 to commemorate the millennial of Hungary. The ground floor has stalls with produce, meats, pastries, and spices. The second floor has small restaurant booths, souvenirs, fabrics, and embroidery. In the basement is an Aldi (really) and more produce/meat booths. This place is huge (approx 10k square meters) and so much fun to go through).

From there we got back on the hop on hop off bus and rode around town. Our hope was to get to see a different area of town before we had to check out of our hotel and get to our ship. The stars did not align quite right. We did do some sightseeing around town, but didn’t get as far as we liked due to misdirection from one of the bus company employees. We took an Uber-like service (Taxify…we recommend it) to our ship and dropped off our bags before heading out again.

We then headed to Margaret Island. Our hope was to walk a good portion of the island and then catch the hop on hop off boat tour. We did do a little bit of walking on the island, spending some time in a pretty park, but we did not make it to where we wanted before it was time to catch the boat tour. The boat tour was nice, allowing us to see the sights from the river during the day, which we enjoyed.
