Maasai Mara, Kenya

Today we flew from Ol Pejeta to Maasai Mara. Once we got there and got settled there was time for an afternoon drive.

This area is also included in the drought, but it is not anywhere near as dry as the last 2 places we have been.

We came upon a 13-strong pride of lions. Most were cubs of various ages.

Lots of relaxing with 2 of them roughhousing.

Obviously, we spent quite a while watching them.

After dinner I got to meet and pet our camp’s pet eland. When this camp opened, he showed up as a days old orphan. The staff hand-raised him and released him into the Maasai Mara. Unfortunately, he was too accustomed to people and kept coming up to safari trucks so they brought him back to the camp where he continues to stay. There is no fencing and he could leave at any time, but he hasn’t.
