We woke up this lion early this morning as he slept on the camp’s airstrip.

After spending some time with him we went off on our daily search for leopards. We quickly heard that another guide had found one, so off we went.

This is Tortoise Pan, a male leopard. He initially was completely behind tall grasses.

But did come out to where we could see him better.

We next encountered a very large (many hundreds) herd of buffalo.

We followed them to a pond and watched them eventually fill it up.

This calf kept getting separated from mom in the pond and looking so panicked.
Most of the time we take a break mid-morning drive and get out for some tea and coffee. This morning we noticed some lions a couple of hundred yards off watching us. When we were done we went to go see them.

During our midday break we had lots of visitors around our cabin.

This nyala was just outside our cabin.

Pied kingfisher

Lots of midday elephant visitors to our camp pond.

Hippos at our camp.

Bit of a hippo fight.

Rock monitor lizard on our deck. It was about 2-2.5 ft long.

Blacksmith lapwing

Hamada ibis

We headed out for the afternoon and found the the lion from this morning napping again.

Lizard hawk

We also managed to find Tortoise Pan again. This time he was more out in the open.

This subadult male elephant was trying to show us how tough he was.

Lilac breasted roller

We got a very brief visit from Sibuie, a female leopard who has 2 cubs, before she crossed over to another property. She didn’t give us a chance to get a good look at her.

We ended the night as we started with another sleeping lion.
